The Statewide Resources Section of the Spill Prevention, Preparedness, and Response program (SPPR) program within the Department of Ecology is recruiting to fill an IT Specialist 5 position.
This position is the GIS Lead and the expert level specialist whose objective is to provide leadership in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining information systems that enable agency staff and stakeholders to support the protection and restoration of the state’s resources at risk. The position provides critical support in the areas of GIS database, map and visualization products that are relied upon by Ecology staff, management, first responders, legislators, partner-agencies, and the public to accurately identify, analyze, and reflect the state of the oil movement, resources at risk and spill response equipment capability in Washington State. Specifically, this professional position uses the ArcGIS suite of GIS tools to design and produce the maps, reports and related products required by the business of the agency and to provide analysis of GIS and related environmental data to determine trends, needs and data gaps to support informed decision making.
