    DICK THOMAS STUDENT PAPER AWARD

    WAURISA, the Washington State Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association, announces the first annual Dick Thomas award. This award is established to honor Washington State GIS pioneer and mentor Richard ‘Dick’ Thomas, who passed away in 2006. The intent of this award is to honor Dick by continuing his work of encouraging students to excel in their studies and to transition successfully into careers in the field of GIS.     The deadline has been extended to Monday, March 26th for students to enter the Dick Thomas Memorial Student Presentations. Please send submissions to the Student Presentation Committee. Authors will be notified of their acceptance to present at the Conference by Monday, April 2nd.

    WAURISA GIS PERSON OF THE YEAR

    Nominate your GIS Person of the Year using the following criteria by sending a short description of their contributions to the GIS Community and why you think they should be awarded the GIS Person of the Year at the 2007 Washington GIS Conference. Please submit your nomination to the Conference Nomination Committee no later than March 31st.
